Silicon Image Appoints Umesh Padval To Board

, a leading provider of multimedia connectivity solutions and services, today announced that Umesh Padval, a Partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, was appointed to the company's board of directors. “We are pleased to have Umesh join Silicon Image's board of directors. He brings exceptional technology and business expertise to complement our team,” said Peter Hanelt, Silicon Image chairman. Prior to joining Bessemer in 2007, Mr. Padval served as Executive Vice President, Consumer Products at LSI Logic Corporation, Chief Executive Officer of C-Cube and held various executive positions at VLSI Technology and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). “Umesh has vast experience spanning consumer electronics to multi-system operator (MSO) industries, combined with expertise from running successful semiconductor operations. He will be a valuable addition to our board,” said Camillo Martino, chief executive officer of Silicon Image. Mr. Padval currently serves as chairman of the board of Entropic Communications, Inc. and on the boards of Integrated Device Technology, Inc. as well as several private companies. He received a bachelor's degree in Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and an M.S. in engineering from Stanford University. “Silicon Image has been a pioneer and leader in driving worldwide standards such as HDMI and MHL in the consumer electronics and mobile industries for many years,” said Mr. Padval. “I am honored to join the Silicon Image board and look forward to working with this remarkable team to shape the future direction and growth of the company.”
