Brown Shoe Company Elects W. Lee Capps to Board of Directors

Brown Shoe Company BWS (brownshoe.com) today announced the election of W. Lee Capps to its board of directors and his appointment to the audit committee. Capps was most recently chief operating officer for Kellwood Company. At Kellwood, he also served in several other executive leadership roles, including seven years as the company's chief financial officer. “Adding Lee to our board of directors gives us the benefit of both his strong accounting background and his industry experience,” said Diane Sullivan, president and CEO of Brown Shoe Company. “His expertise in finance, treasury, and compliance and control activities will also be of great value.” Capps, a U.S. Air Force veteran, started his accounting career at KPMG, where he spent more than 10 years in various audit roles. Prior to joining Kellwood, he worked for Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Lubbock, Texas, as the CFO and controller.
