PlayStation 4 Software Pre-Orders Top Xbox One By 55%

Domestic software pre-orders for Sony's SNE PlayStation 4 are 55 percent higher than the software pre-orders for Microsoft's MSFT Xbox One. According to the latest United States pre-order data from VGChartz, consumers have pre-ordered a combined total of 834,242 games for Xbox One. Activision's ATVI Call of Duty: Ghosts led the pack with 254,404 pre-orders, followed by Electronic Arts' EA Battlefield 4 (134,457 pre-orders) and Ubisoft's UBSFY Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (113,582 pre-orders). Eight Xbox One games made it into the top 40 list of pre-ordered games. By comparison, PlayStation 4 had nine games in the top 40 that amounted to 1,259,581 pre-orders. Once again, Call of Duty: Ghosts came in first with 259,511 pre-orders. Battlefield 4 performed much better on PlayStation 4, nabbing 255,241 pre-orders. But this list should still serve as an indicator for what the first-week sales will be when PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are released in November. PlayStation 4 console pre-orders have already been sold to more than one million people worldwide. Microsoft has yet to announce the pre-sale figures for Xbox One. PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 Remain Popular Sony and Microsoft's new consoles may be just around the corner, but that hasn't stopped consumers from pre-ordering millions of games for the seven-year-old PlayStation 3 and the eight-year-old Xbox 360. In fact, Xbox 360 is currently the dominant platform for Call of Duty: Ghosts with 495,034 pre-orders. Nine Xbox 360 games made it into the top 40, amounting to 1,362,088 pre-orders. PlayStation 3 dominated the list with 11 games in the top 40 -- the most of any console. But its total pre-orders came to 1,151,335, which is roughly 15 percent less than the total number of pre-orders for Xbox 360. Only two Nintendo NTDOY games made it into the top 40: Pokemon X/Y (305,249 pre-orders combined for the X and Y versions) and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (70,568 pre-orders). The Wind Waker HD was released late last week, so this will be the last time it appears on VGChartz's pre-order list.
