Rep. Fattah: Jobs Report is Good, Obama's Jobs Act Will Make It Better

Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA-02), a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee and Chair of the Congressional Urban Caucus, issues the following statement on the monthly jobs report: "The direction arrow is pointing upward for jobs growth in the American economy: 103,000 new jobs in the past month – and about 100,000 more added in revised numbers for July and August, according to the government report issued today. September was the 19th consecutive month for job growth in the private sector, which has added more than 1.2 million hires in the past year alone. "That's good, but not good enough. We've got to do more. President Obama's American Jobs Act is exactly what we need to jumpstart the U.S. economy and keep our nation competitive in the global arena. Independent economists say the Jobs Act will work to start pulling the United States up by our bootstraps. "The Senate will take up the President's program next week. As soon as they pass it I will be urging my colleagues in the House to follow suit. It's time to move from rhetoric to action."
