The Worst ISPs For Spam And Phishing

The WannaCry virus that hit over the weekend reportedly infected more than 230,000 devices in over 150 countries. Concern over the virus has cybersecurity stocks and the PureFunds ISE Cyber Security ETF HACK surging this week while Americans try to do whatever they can to protect themselves from the threat.

According to the McAfee website, one of the steps that people can take to protect themselves from viruses and worms is to choose security-conscious internet service providers.

The website Spamhaus has a list of the 10 worst ISPs for spam support.

“Spam continues to plague the internet because a small number of Internet Service Providers knowingly sell service to professional spammers for profit or do not enough or nothing to prevent spammers operating from their networks,” the website reads.

The website identifies ISPs with the worst abuse departments and the worst reputations for hosting spam operations and are ranked based on their total number of current known spam issues. While it may seem like these ISPs would be small, unknown companies, the list includes names like Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN and Microsoft Corporation MSFT. It was a vulnerability in Microsoft’s Windows operating system that allowed the WannaCry virus access to people’s devices in the first place.

  3. Amazon.com (155 known issues)
  4. Anchnet.com (119 known issues
  5. Huwai.com (111 known issues)
  6. Chinanet-hb (106 known issues)
  7. Cnisp.org.cn (94 known issues)
  8. Pangintl.com (93 known issues)
  9. Microsoft.com (91 known issues)
  10. Linode.com (88 known issues)
