Where from here? 3/11/10

Markets seem to waiting for some type of catalyst to determine the direction of the next leg. Inside day in Crude oil as prices hover around $82/barrel. For new entries we still like the idea of $5 put spreads but we would start looking at the June as opposed to May contract.

Direxion Bearish BRIC ETF To Debut On Thursday

Direxion will offer a bearish equivalent to the double leveraged BRIC ETF it is planning to introduce tomorrow. The Direxion Daily BRIC Bear 2X Shares will also debut on Thursday under the ticker "BRIS." BRIS will attempt to deliver twice the daily inverse performance of the BNY BRIC Select ADR Index.

Ruble ETF Could Be Headed For Trouble

The Russian Ruble doesn't get the same type of press as the U.S. Dollar, the Euro or the Japanese Yen and unbeknownst to many investors, there is an ETF to play the Ruble with: The CurrencyShares Russian Ruble Trust (NYSE: XRU).

Euro, Dollar & Gold: Which Could Benefit More from Chinese Yuan Revaluation? (GLD, CYB, FXA, FXB, DBV)

Traditionally China is blamed by holding its currency at an artificially low level to spur exports. If Yuan appreciates, it would be bullish for everybody but China, because there will be more exports and higher growth in the Europe and US. But it could also lead to higher prices on Chinese goods imported to the US, causing inflation and leading the Fed to hike interest rates sooner.

Are The $ Correlations Back? 3/3/10

The dollar cut thru the 20 day moving average like a hot knife thru butter and in just 2 days erased the previous 2 weeks of gains. The dollar is in control of the destiny of commodities in the short run. As we’ve voiced in recent posts we expect sideways to down in the dollar and the 9% appreciation since the first week of December was a gift.
