The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) is reportedly set to approve the first spot-Bitcoin (CRYPTO: <a class="ticker" href="https://www.benzinga.com/quote/btc/usd">BTC</a>) exchange-traded fund (ETF) in the country before the year ends.
What Happened: The ASX, which oversees the majority of Australia&#8217;s equity market, is expected to give the green light to the first spot-Bitcoin ETFs before the end of 2024, as per a <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-04-28/bitcoin-btc-etf-bandwagon-heads-to-australia-after-53-billion-haul-in-us">reported</a> Bloomberg on Monday citing individuals familiar with the matter.
Local entity DigitalX Ltd. submitted an application in February, while VanEck resubmitted its application in February, as announced last month. Sydney-based BetaShares informed Bloomberg that it is working towards launching a product on the ASX.
ASX stated in January that it &#8220;does not comment on investment product applications&#8221; but continues to engage with several issuers interested in admitting crypto-asset-based ETFs, <a href="https://www.coindesk.com/policy/2024/04/29/australian-securities-exchange-could-approve-spot-bitcoin-etfs-before-2024-end-bloomberg/#:~:text=Australian%20Securities%20Exchange%20(ASX)%20is,towards%20it%2C%20the%20report%20said">according</a> to CoinDesk.
Approval for Bitcoin ETFs in and around Asia has gained momentum following U.S. approvals. Last week, Hong Kong officially approved the first batch of spot Bitcoin and ether ETFs.
ASX did not immediately respond to&nbsp;<a href="http://pro.benzinga.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Benzinga</a>'s request for comment.

Earlier in April, Australia-based Monochrome Asset Management applied for a spot Bitcoin ETF with the global listing exchange, Cboe Australia, a smaller rival of ASX. Monochrome chose Cboe Australia due to its expertise across Asia and broader investor access.
Why It Matters: The approval of Bitcoin ETFs in Australia is a significant <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/04/38478293/shiba-inus-burn-rate-soars-cathie-wood-believes-ethereum-could-catch-up-to-bitcoin-and-mor">development in the global cryptocurrency market. </a>The U.S. has already approved Bitcoin ETFs, and the recent approval in Hong Kong indicates a growing acceptance of these financial products in Asia.
Meanwhile, other financial giants are also looking to expand their Bitcoin ETF offerings. Morgan Stanley is <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/markets/cryptocurrency/24/04/38431467/morgan-stanley-considers-broader-bitcoin-etf-sales-through-broker-network">considering allowing its network of brokers</a> to actively recommend Bitcoin ETFs to clients, potentially increasing the accessibility of these products to a wider audience.

The United Arab Emirates&#8217; (UAE) energy minister, Suhail Al Mazrouei, has expressed his support for JPMorgan&#8217;s recent cautionary stance on the global energy transition.
What Happened: Al Mazrouei, stated that JPMorgan&#8217;s call for a &#8220;reality check&#8221; on the world&#8217;s energy transition is a &#8220;sensible&#8221; approach, while <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2024/04/29/uae-minister-jpm-calls-for-reality-check-on-energy-transition-is-sensible.html">speaking</a> with CNBC, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum.

What Happened: Tesla on Sunday shared a short video teasing a tour starting April 30 across the European cities of London, Berlin, Venice, Barcelona, Prague, and Amsterdam, among others. 
More details of the tour, the company said, will be made available on Tuesday.

This is Tesla&#8217;s second major Cybertruck tour outside of the U.S. In January, the company went on a tour across China. 
In December, Tesla&#8217;s Vice President of Vehicle Engineering Lars Moravy told motoring publication TopGear that the Cybertruck might find it hard to get approval in Europe owing to laws that attempt to regulate external projections on vehicles. A month later, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that getting approvals for the Cybertruck in China, too, would be &#8220;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/01/36626369/tesla-ceo-elon-musk-tempers-down-expectations-of-cybertruck-rollout-in-china-could-ship-some-prototy">very difficult</a>.&#8221; 
Why It Matters: Tesla&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/analyst-ratings/analyst-color/23/12/36039263/did-tesla-overpromise-and-underdeliver-with-the-cybertruck" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">started delivering to customers&nbsp;</a>in the U.S. in late November. However, earlier this month Tesla&nbsp;<a href="https://www.benzinga.com/government/24/04/38331377/tesla-recalls-over-3-800-cybertrucks-citing-unintended-acceleration-risk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">recalled 3,878 Cybertruck vehicles&nbsp;</a>over concerns of unintentional acceleration.
The company said in a filing with the&nbsp;National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the accelerator pedal pad on the affected vehicles may dislodge and become trapped by the interior trim above the pedal, thereby causing it to accelerate without the driver intending to.
As for a solution, the company said it would replace or repair the accelerator pedal assembly, free of charge to the customer.

What Happened: A social media user on X, with the handle @BrianRoemmele, posted a video about Switzerland&#8217;s preparedness for war. Musk, who is very vocal about the possibility of a world war on his platform amid the geopolitical tensions, commented on the post.
The video clip starts off by suggesting that Switzerland is the least afraid of wars. &#8220;This is because there are many bunkers here. Inside these bunkers, there are numerous turrets with an attack range of up to 30 km,&#8221; it said.
In the village shown in the clip, every fourth barn has an underground passage and has shelters below.
The Swiss government has turned the entire Alps into a huge bunker, equipped with luxury hotels, restaurants, public canteens, modern shower rooms, dormitories, hospitals and giant generators, and just the room keys of these facilities filled a wall, it said. Only on close inspection can one realize that the whole mountain was riddled with holes.
The entrance to the bunker is reportedly through a dilapidated door.
Armed bunkers have been built in about 60% of the mountainous region, which accounted for about 62.5% of the Swiss territory, and in the plains, every community has a nuclear-blast shelter, with a complete medical facility, including operating rooms, morgues, etc.
Replying to the post Musk said, &#8220;Sounds like they will make it through WW3.&#8221;

Fifty-six percent of White voters supported Trump compared to 42% who backed Biden, while the president commanded a huge lead (77%) among Black voters. The support of Hispanic voters was evenly divided, while Asian voters aligned more with Biden (59%) than Trump (36%).
Another key finding was that the support base of the two candidates from 2020 remained almost the same. Overwhelming majorities of those who cast ballots for Biden (91%) and Trump (94%) support the same candidate in 2024. Registered voters who did not vote in 2020 were about evenly divided, with 48% backing Trump, while 46% supported Biden.
Trump trumped Biden on physical fitness and mental fitness to do the job of president, while Biden scored over Trump on ethically acting while in office, and preservation of democracy.

Not Enthused About Either: Despite these results, voters overall have little confidence in either candidate on key traits such as fitness for office, personal ethics, and respect for democratic values.
Reflecting their dissatisfaction with the Biden-Trump matchup, Nearly half of registered voters (49%) said if they could decide the major party candidates for the 2024 election, they would replace both Biden and Trump on the ballot.
The dissatisfaction was more evident with Biden supporters. About 62% of Biden supporters said they would like to have both candidates replaced. The proportion of Trump supporters who said this was a more modest 35%.
Sixty-six percent of voters under 30 wanted to replace both candidates, while 54% of those aged between 30 and 49 years expressed the sentiment. Only 43% of those who were 50 and older wanted other alternatives.
Presidential Ratings: Forty-two percent of voters rated Trump as a &#8220;good&#8221; or &#8220;great&#8221; president, while only 11% said he was &#8220;average&#8221;. The percentage of people expressing the opinion improved modestly since March 2021, two months after he left office.
In comparison, only 28% said Biden was a &#8220;good&#8221; or &#8220;great&#8221; president and 21% said he was &#8220;average.&#8221;
Biden&#8217;s job approval rating was at an anemic 35%, although up slightly from 33% in January, with the increase accounted for by a slightly larger number of Democrats (65%) approving his job as president. A majority of voters wanted the losing candidate in November to publicly acknowledge the winner, with the proportion of Democrats and Republicans saying this at 77% and 44%, respectively.
Regarding <a href="https://www.benzinga.com/news/24/04/38348880/donald-trump-could-still-win-even-if-he-loses-in-supreme-court-over-presidential-immunity-claim">Trump&#8217;s alleged role in overturning the 2020 election,</a> 45% of Americans said the former president&#8217;s actions broke the law, while 38% said he did not break the law. Of the 38%, 15% said his actions were wrong but not illegal, and 23% who say he did nothing wrong. About two in ten said they weren&#8217;t sure.

What Happened: Speaking at the WEF&#8217;s &#8220;Special Meeting on Global Collaboration, Growth and Energy for Development&#8221; in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Brende highlighted the alarming global debt ratios, which are nearing levels not seen since the 1820s, <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2024/04/28/wef-president-we-havent-seen-this-kind-of-debt-since-the-napoleonic-wars.html">reported</a> CNBC.
He underscored the risk of &#8220;stagflation&#8221; in advanced economies and cautioned against a potential trade war, emphasizing the need for continued global trade. Brende also urged governments to address the mounting debt situation, which is approaching 100% of the global GDP.
"We cannot get into a trade war, we still have to trade with each other," he explained when asked about avoiding a period of low growth.
Despite the current global growth estimate of around 3.2%, Brende warned that this is below the previous trend growth of 4% and could lead to a slowdown similar to that seen in the 1970s.
His warning aligns with a recent report from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which noted that global public debt had risen to 93% of GDP last year, a figure that is still 9 percentage points higher than pre-pandemic levels. The IMF projected that global public debt could approach 100% of GDP by the end of the decade.
"There is so much unpredictability, and you can easily get out of control. If Israel and Iran escalated that conflict, we could have seen an oil price of $150 overnight. And that would of course be very damaging for the global economy," he said.

What Happened: Christopher Stanley, X's senior director of security engineering posted a video of an upcoming major overhaul of the social media app that tries to pack more posts on the screen.
The video shows off an "exploding" video game-like interface that hides menu actions like Repost, Like, Reply, Share, and Bookmark behind a long-press action.
These action buttons are currently visible under each post, eating up space. The new design hides them and allows X to display more posts on the screen.
