Equifax Inc. (NYSE:EFX) has gone from its worst month on record to its best in a matter of weeks.
The credit bureau’s stock is up nearly 35% so far in October, trading near $185 on Friday. That is the biggest monthly gain in TradingView data going back to 1983.
In September, the shares lost 27.5%, the worst month on the same chart, as a shake-up of mortgage credit scoring led by Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte weighed on credit-bureau stocks.
The rebound began with third-quarter results on Oct. 20. Revenue rose nearly 10% to $1.69 billion and U.S. mortgage revenue climbed 15%, although Equifax trimmed its full-year sales outlook.
On Thursday, Argus Research upgraded the stock to Buy. Needham lifted its target to $210 from $190 this week, while Stifel cut its own to $217 from $235.
Even after the rally, Equifax is still down about 14% this year.
