Futurum Group CEO Daniel Newman said Wednesday he added to his position in CoreWeave Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWV), while stating that the selloff across artificial intelligence cloud providers was overdone.
The stock is down more than 5% in premarket trading on Thursday.
Calls the Selloff a ‘Psyop’
In a post on X, Newman said that the neocloud drawdown of the past 10 days was “basically a psyop,’”adding that results from Space Exploration Technologies Corp. and Meta Platforms Inc. “further validate the wildly asymmetric demand for compute and power.”
“I did get longer on CoreWeave,” Newman told Fox Business, pointing to a 246% year-over-year jump in its revenue backlog, not counting $25 billion in additional commitments this quarter.
“We are completely missing the point,” he added.
He said its capacity is sold out and that it is anchored by Microsoft Corp.‘s balance sheet, Meta and Jane Street, with more customers expanding beyond them.
Pointing to SpaceX’s results, Newman said companies with power and capacity can sell it “multiple times over” and “do well, even if we do have some bumps in the meantime.”
Why CRWV Fell
CoreWeave, a neocloud provider, has taken on more than $51 billion in debt and obligations to build out its AI infrastructure, and stock and bond investors are pushing back on how much it is spending.

SPCX Eased the Pressure
The stock went in the green for a while on Wednesday after Musk said on SpaceX’s earnings call that the company was being “hounded relentlessly by every hyperscaler” for compute and could rent it out “several times over.”
Of the 29 analysts covering the stock, 24 rate it Buy or Strong Buy, three Hold and two Sell, with a consensus price target of $133, according to Benzinga Pro.
