Iran, which has been accused of supplying drones to Vladimir Putin amid Russia’s war in Ukraine, has termed the Western allegations "disappointing" while calling for a peaceful resolution between Moscow and Kyiv.

What Happened: “The Islamic Republic of Iran has taken a clear and consistent position on the situation in Ukraine, which has been pronounced since the start of the conflict,” Ambassador of the permanent representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani said, reported CNBC.

“Iran has consistently advocated for peace and the immediate end to the conflict in Ukraine,” Iravani said, dubbing the allegations “unfounded and unsubstantiated.”

Iravani added that the West was mounting a disinformation campaign against Iran.

Comments from the Iranian representative came after a closed-door U.N. Security Council meeting where the U.S., U.K., and France raised the implications of Iranian-made arms transfers to Russia.

Meanwhile, according to the U.S. and allied security officials, Iran is planning to send not only drones but also the first Iranian-made surface-to-surface missiles to Putin.

U.S. President Joe Biden, on Wednesday, accused the Russian president of resorting to brutalizing Ukrainians amid his war in Kyiv.

"I think Vladimir Putin finds himself in an incredibly difficult position and what it reflects to me is it seems his only tool available to him is to brutalize individual citizens in Ukraine to try to intimidate them into capitulating," Biden told reporters at the White House.
