S&P 500 index futures were trading lower by 15 points at 2079 in Wednesday's session. The sell-off from the pre-market session has followed through into the regular session. However, the index has found support once again in a familiar area.

Four of the last five lows in the index have been in a tight range between 2073.25 and 2074.75, with the current low matching Monday's low at 2074.75.

All of the top 10 stocks in the index are in the red. Leading the way on the downside is Procter & Gamble PG shares trading at a 2 1/2-year low, lower by $1.07 at $74.06. It is followed by Exxon Mobil XOM shares which are trading lower by $0.97 at $76.93. The low for the recent slide in the issue stands at its August 11 low ($76.33).
