James River Coal Shares of James River Coal JRCC, the Richmond, VA thermal and metallurgical coal mining company, rose 16.84% Tuesday on 1.5 times average volume. James River Coal shares spiked higher on a positive report from Five Star Equities, citing a positive forecast for thermal coal demand. James River Coal closed at $2.29 on Tuesday.
