Just a day after Microsoft MSFT and Facebook FB announced they were splitting AOL's AOL patents, rumors surfaced that another patent-rich tech company, Interdigital IDCC, was putting its portfolio on the market. Interdigital has been the subject of frequent rumors involving patent licensing deals and an outright sale of the company. A spokesperson for Interdigital was not able to confirm a patent sale. Interdigital closed at $31.95 Tuesday, a gain 3.77% on almost twice the average Daily volume. William Blair Says Fusion-IO is a Potential Takeover Target for Big Tech The Rumor:
Fusion-IO FIO is a takeover target for several large tech companies, according to a note from William Blair. The companies mentioned in the note include Oracle ORCL, Cisco CSCO, Netapp NTAP, Dell DELL, IBM IBM and Facebook FB. Cisco was rumored to be buying Fusion-IO last week. A spokesperson for Cisco would not comment on the Blair note, while a Fusion-IO representative could not be reached for comment. Fusion-IO closed at $27.25 Tuesday, a gain of 4.01% on average volume. Veolia Environment to Sell UK Water Assets The Rumor:
Veolia Environment VE is considering a sale of its UK water assets, according to sources speaking to Dow Jones. A least two buyers are said to be bidding. A spokesperson for Veolia Environment could not be reached for comment. Veolia Environment closed at $13.80 Tuesday, a gain of 1.02% on 1.5 times the average daily volume.
