With Dead Space 2 At #1, Will EA Make a Comeback? (ERTS)
Though exact sales figures have not been announced, Dead Space 2 is currently enjoying the top sales position in the United Kingdom.
Is this cause for celebration? Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) has been trading up over the past two days, with shares closing today at $15.62; after the close, shared jumped another 9.15% following the company's earnings and $600 million buyback announcement.
For the average investor, earnings and buyback announcements hold more weight than the success of one product. But with Dead Space 2 taking control of the UK charts (which were previously dominated by Sony's (NYSE: SNE) LittleBigPlanet 2), Electronic Arts is showing that it can still produce big hits and resilient franchises.
