Avago Introduces New Optical Encoders - Analyst Blog

Leading analog semiconductor manufacturer Avago Technologies Limited AVGO recently introduced the AEDR-87xx series of 3-channel reflective optical encoder devices. The series currently includes the AEDR-8710 for $15 and AEDR-8723 for $22 each for quantities of 10,000 pieces.

The reflective optical encoders are specialized for use in low power miniaturized motion control systems. The encoders feature low supply voltage option, dual analog/digital output options and high encoding resolution. The AEDR-871x encoder features dual channel digital outputs and the AEDR-872x features dual channel analog outputs. The new series of reflective optical encoder devices are packaged in the industry's smallest form factor. The small size allows the encoders to be used in a wide range of miniature commercial and industrial applications where size and space issues are critical.

These optical solutions provide greater flexibility and easier integration into existing control systems. They are a perfect fit to addresses challenges for modern miniaturized motion control systems and are ideal for stepper motors, electrical actuators, piezoelectric drives and portable medical appliances.
