MISSISSAUGA, ON, Aug. 14, 2018 /CNW/ - EllisDon Healthcare Infrastructure (EllisDon) has reached financial close on the new West Park Healthcare Centre.

Following a fair, open, and transparent request for qualifications process, EllisDon was awarded the fixed-price contract to design, build, finance, and maintain the redevelopment project.

West Park provides specialized rehabilitation; complex continuing care, long-term care and community health services helping individuals manage difficult health challenges like lung disease, diabetes, stroke, amputation and musculoskeletal issues arising from a life-changing event or illness.

The development project will include a new, approximately 730,000 square foot hospital building, providing various inpatient, outpatient, and outreach services. Outpatient care space will be significantly increased to accommodate current and new services such as geriatric clinics and day hospital, and satellite hemodialysis. Eighty per cent of the beds will be in single-patient rooms.

Sustainable features and elements such as expansion of green space and extensive landscaping for outdoor therapy areas and therapeutic gardens will also be incorporated into the design. The project will target Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Silver certification.

Construction is set to begin immediately and substantial completion is slated for early 2023.
