City Network, a leading European provider of infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) built on OpenStack, today announced it has been selected a gold member of the OpenStack Foundation, the community driving the development of the cloud computing platform OpenStack. In connection to the OpenStack Summit in Barcelona, taking place October 25-28, the OpenStack Foundation's Board of Directors approved City Network's application to become a gold member. As such, City Network will form a strategic alignment with the organization and be one of the key global stakeholders in the development and implementation of the platform.

With its IaaS City Cloud, City Network is a provider of public, hybrid and private cloud solutions built on OpenStack to many industries with a particular focus on heavily regulated industries such as bank and finance. As a gold member City Network will continue its mission to enable innovation in regulated industries through cloud adoption leveraged by the advantages of OpenStack.

– City Network is an important contributor to the OpenStack community, especially when it comes to driving the implementation of OpenStack in heavily regulated industries such as banks, insurance companies and the financial market at large, said Mark Collier, COO of the OpenStack Foundation. As a gold member to our foundation, they will play a big role in the continuous growth for OpenStack within these industries.

Based in Sweden, with public OpenStack nodes across the world, City Network will now join an exclusive number of companies with a gold member status to the foundation. Following telecom giant Ericsson, City Network will be the second Nordic company to join the foundation at this level.

As one of the companies behind the first OpenStack Days Nordic, City Network will now deepen its engagement with the foundation and continue to educate and build awareness about the advantages of OpenStack in public, hybrid and private cloud implementations.

Johan Christenson, CEO and founder of City Network today accepted the gold membership status during the OpenStack Summit in Barcelona.

– We have lots of examples of benefits that the OpenStack platform brings to companies which enables innovation and builds their digital transformation on a IaaS, especially in highly regulated industries.
