Leading Library Supplier Made Exclusive Provider of BrainHQ

Madison WI (PRWEB) October 11, 2016

Public libraries can now offer patrons access to BrainHQ, the only brain fitness program with exercises shown in studies to improve cognition and to broadly generalize to real world activities. BrainHQ, developed by neuroscientists at Posit Science, includes more than two dozen brain-training exercises and is accessible to patrons via subscribing public libraries' websites, in order to offer training wherever patrons are – be it at the library, at home or on the go using the BrainHQ app.

Some of the most important studies proving the effectiveness of brain exercises have used exercises available only in BrainHQ – including the 2800-person ACTIVE Study, which recently announced 10-year study results on the impact of a Posit Science exercises on dementia risk. There are more than 130 peer-reviewed papers on the exercises and assessments from Posit Science. Studies have shown that the exercises improve standard measures of cognition (eg, speed, attention, memory, executive function), standard measures of quality of life (eg, mood, confidence, health-related quality of life) and real world activities (eg, driving, balance, gait, instrumental activities of daily living).

"While we typically charge a modest $96 per year (which is $8 a month) for a subscription, we are mindful that expense is substantial for some people," said Dr. Henry Mahncke, CEO of Posit Science. "We know that the local library is a primary on ramp to the internet for many people, and this distribution arrangement with Demco – and the enlightened libraries they serve – helps to fulfill our mission of getting the benefits of our technology to everyone on the planet who could be helped by it."

"For the last 110 years, libraries have come to Demco for products and services, from shelf organization to book protection resources. As libraries transform to meet the needs of changing communities, we are excited to offer new solutions like BrainHQ," added Nedra Sadorf, President of Demco. "While there are other brain training programs available, only BrainHQ has the proven science to meet consumer expectations, and that make us confident that this is the best option for libraries and the patrons they serve."
