Personal Finance and Economics Take Center Stage in Phoenix at Council for Economic Education's 55th Annual Conference

Over 500 Educators, Experts, Economic and Financial Leaders to Address K-12 Financial and Economic Education in Our Nation's Schools

This October, financial literacy and economic education take center stage in Phoenix at the Council for Economic Education's 55th Annual Financial and Economic Literacy Conference. The event will bring together over 500 K-12 educators, industry thought leaders, representatives of the Federal Reserve and partners from across the country to hear unique perspectives, and exchange ideas for bringing financial and economic education to the classroom.

With networking events, over 100 hands-on training sessions and special roundtable sessions led by master teachers, attendees will have an opportunity to learn from their peers and share best practices at the elementary, middle and high school levels.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear insights from guest speakers including: David Wessel, Director, The Hutchins Center on Fiscal and Monetary Policy & The Brookings Institution; Mary C. Daly, Senior Vice President and Associate Director of Research, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco; and Michael E. Staten, Ph.D., Take Charge America Endowed Professor and Director, Take Charge America Institute for Consumer Financial Education and Research & Assistant Dean for Careers, Commerce and Industry.

At the Awards Luncheon on Thursday, October 6, CEE will honor the Center for Economic Education at California State University East Bay and the Center for Economic and Financial Education at Western Washington University, this year's recipients of the Albert Beekhuis Award for exhibiting excellence in practice and delivery of high quality programs. CEE will also honor three outstanding teachers for excellence in economic education with the John Morton Excellence in the Teaching of Economics awards on Friday, October 7: Gina Boyd, Mayflower Mill Elementary, Lafayette, IN; Patricia Dennis, Sonora Middle School, Springdale, AK; and Jacob Clifford, San Pasqual High School, Escondido, CA.

The 55th Annual Financial and Economic Literacy Conference will be held Wednesday, October 5 – Saturday, October 8.
