Charleston, S.C. (PRWEB) September 01, 2016

Due to hurricane Hermine, the South Carolina Aquarium will be closed, Friday September 2, 2016 in order to ensure the safety of visitors and staff.

Despite closing to the public, our animal care team is on hand working throughout the day and night ensuring the safety and welfare of our animals and the water systems that support them. Every animal in our collection will remain on exhibit. Those located in our outdoor Mountain Forest exhibit and Saltmarsh Aviary are native to South Carolina and, as always, are monitored very closely.

Once the possibility of severe weather has passed, the Aquarium will return to its normal operational hours, Monday – Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (last ticket sold at 4 p.m.).

Be sure to join the South Carolina Aquarium this Labor Day weekend to experience Madagascar Journey before it closes to the public. The last day to see the exotic animals of Madagascar, including critically endangered red ruffed lemurs, a crocodile, a panther chameleon and several species of tropical fish and reptiles, is September 5. Before your visit go to scaquarium.org for a $5 off coupon to the Aquarium as part of the September Savings promotion. The Aquarium is partnering with Magnolia Plantation and Gardens for this special discount valid only for the month of September.
