VERO BEACH, Fla. (PRWEB) July 05, 2016

Harbor Retirement Associates (HRA), a regional senior living development and management company based in Vero Beach, announces the HRA Top Chef Winners from its inaugural HRA Chef's Fare Academy. The winners are Rob Taylor, Director of Hospitality and Chef from HarborChase of Jacksonville, Willie Marshall, Chef from HarborChase of Rock Hill, and Deane Bess, Director of Hospitality and Chef from HarborChase of Tallahassee. The academy was held in Vero Beach from April 5 through April 7. At the conclusion of two days of intense training, the winners were crowned following a cooking competition.

"We're extremely proud of all the winners and participants in our inaugural Chef's Fare Academy", says Tim Smick, CEO of Harbor Retirement Associates. "Our HRA Top Chefs are going to be a key part of our renewed and reinvigorated focus on training and excellence in our community dining services."

The new HRA Top Chefs were crowned after a competition at the conclusion of the Chef's Fare Academy training. The participants were divided into two teams of three. They were each given a market basket of ingredients and from there they prepared a four-course meal with wine pairings for a panel of 10 judges. The winning team of HRA Top Chefs will travel to sister communities and share the vision and new skills learned at the Chef's Fare Academy with fellow Directors of Hospitality.

"As part of our commitment to create extraordinary dining experiences for our residents, these HRA Top Chefs will help set the cornerstone and establish a new standard of excellence", says Merry Schellhase, Vice President of Hospitality and Dining Services at HRA. "We're very much looking forward to bringing our Chef's Fare brand to life across our communities nationwide."

The runner-ups in the competition are Ed Giddings, Director of Hospitality and Chef for HarborChase of Aiken, Jeff Parrish, Director of Hospitality and Chef for HarborChase of Auburn Hills, and James Pringle, Director of Hospitality and Chef for HarborChase of Columbia.

HRA communities serve three meals daily with a concentrated emphasis on taste, service, nutrition and a variety of healthy choices. In addition, each HRA community features 24-hour staff, scheduled transportation daily, housekeeping service, concierge services and the exclusive Chef's Fare Dining Program with customized dining experiences in multiple venues. Each community also has HRA's signature Life Enrichment Program, designed to provide social, devotional, fitness and recreational opportunities that have a positive impact on residents.
