EC-Council Foundation announces the first annual InfoSec Tech & Exec Awards Gala, taking place in conjunction with Hacker Halted, the Foundation's flagship conference, in Atlanta, Georgia September 14, 2016, to recognize the security industry's top professionals.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) June 27, 2016

Too often in information security, the leaders in the industry are only recognized when something terrible happens – their companies are breached and suddenly their names are all over the news. EC-Council Foundation is looking to reverse this trend and honor the top information security professionals for their positive contributions to the industry in the first annual InfoSec Tech & Exec Awards Gala. The Gala is a black tie event honoring information security professionals in seven different categories, ranging from ethical hacking to executive management. InfoSec Tech & Exec Awards Gala will take place September 14, 2016 in a black tie, invitation only event that will also honor EC-Council's award-winning partners and EC-Council University graduates. The Gala will be a celebration of the professionals, partners, community, and contributors that support the success of EC-Council and EC-Council Foundation.

Executives in Information Security tend to have jobs that the world only notices when something bad happens and an organization is breached. EC-Council Foundation recognizes that executives are an incredibly important part of an organization's security program and therefore is recognizing them in four categories:

CISO of the Year - This award, available only to Information Security Executives (VP, CISO, etc.), recognizes an individual's outstanding work in information security.

Innovative Security Project of the Year - This award is intended to recognize the most innovative security project of the year. The nomination must include a brief description of the project and its goals, how the project supported the business/organization.

Most Improved Information Security Program of the Year - This award is intended to recognize improvements in information security programs that have made use of innovative strategies to bring value quickly to a security program and the overall business/organization's goals.

C|CISO of the Year - This award, available only to EC-Council Certified CISOs (C|CISOs), recognizes an individual's outstanding work in information security. One C|CISO who has contributed to the information security industry, shown tremendous professional growth and achievement, and has promoted strong, innovative security practices will be honored.

The Foundation will also be honoring more technical practitioners of information security in three categories:

Ethical Hacker of the Year – This award will recognize the professional who best embodies the principles of ethical hacking by contributing to the industry and the positive view of information security professionals.

Forensics Analyst of the Year - This award will recognize the forensics professional who best embodies the principles of forensics analysis by contributing to the industry and the positive view of information security professionals. Forensics Analyst of the Year nominations will be evaluated based on the complexity of the achievements, the contribution to the industry, and the innovations outlined.

Pen Tester of the Year - This award will recognize the penetration tester professional who best embodies the principles of penetration testing by contributing to the industry and the positive view of information security professionals. Pen Tester of the Year nominations will be evaluated based on the complexity of the pen test achievements, the contribution to the industry, and the innovations outlined.

The Awards Gala will take place the night before the kickoff of both Hacker Halted, EC-Council Foundation's flagship annual conference, and the Global CISO Forum, the executive-level event that brings together the top CISOs from around the world.
