First presented in 1999, the annual Money Management Institute (MMI) Industry Leadership Awards recognize outstanding innovation and achievement in the investment advisory solutions industry over the preceding year. The awards are organized into separate categories for Investment Managers, Sponsor Firms (Broker-Dealers/Distributors), and Solutions Providers (Technology and Service Providers). MMI members submit nominations for each award and a special Industry Awards Committee determines the finalists. MMI member firms then vote to determine the winners in each award category.

The award winners are announced each year during the MMI Industry Recognition Dinner held during the MMI Annual Convention. The Dinner is also a fundraiser to support Gateway to Leadership, MMI's workplace diversity program which places minority college students in summer internships at leading financial services firms.
