Bon-Ton has raised over $5 Million to Support Breast Cancer Research.

Milwaukee, WI (PRWEB) February 09, 2016

The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. BONT, which operates Bon-Ton, Bergner's, Boston Store, Carson's, Elder-Beerman, Herberger's and Younkers department stores, announced it has raised $176,000 to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center, Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa, The Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation, and Masonic Cancer Center at the University of Minnesota through its annual trademarked program, Charge Against Breast Cancer™. Since the program began in September 1998, with the help of its customers, Bon-Ton has donated over $5 million towards breast cancer research.

"We are thrilled with the continued support that our customers have shown through our annual Charge Against Breast Cancer™ campaign," said Kathryn Bufano, president and chief executive officer of The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. "We are proud to support such important research centers in hopes that they will one day find a cure for breast cancer."

Each year, over 200,000 women in the United States are diagnosed with breast cancer. Because this disease affects so many, Bon-Ton has joined in the battle to fight it. With the Charge Against Breast Cancer™ program, every time a customer uses their Bon-Ton Your Rewards credit card, Bon-Ton makes a donation to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation to help fund breast cancer research.

"After nearly 15 years, Bon Ton's partnership with BCRF represents enduring commitment. Year after year they've reaffirmed their pledge to be the end of breast cancer," said Myra Biblowit, President of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. "BCRF is the nation's only A+ rated breast cancer organization by CharityWatch—by supporting BCRF, Bon Ton is making a direct impact on advancing breast cancer research."

In addition, throughout the month of October, customers showed their support by purchasing pink breast cancer themed items in "October Pink Shops", which were sold in all Bon-Ton stores and online. Money was also raised through sales of the company's semi-annual Community Days booklets.
