BAYTOWN, TX --(Marketwired - October 31, 2015) - A leading Baytown,Texas, dental office recently supported an annual skydiving event that raises funds for breast cancer victims struggling to pay for treatment.

The event, Jump for the Rose Pinkfest Mini Boogie, raised more than $15,000 for The Rose, a nonprofit Houston clinic that provides women with breast cancer screenings, diagnosis and treatments.

Marian Sparks, 60, a dental lab technician with Dynamic Dental Solutions, is a breast cancer survivor who founded Jump for the Rose after discovering a love for skydiving. Sparks sought treatment at The Rose after receiving her breast cancer diagnosis in 2008 and credits the clinic for saving her life.

Dr. David Wooten, who operates Dynamic Dental Solutions, is a supporter of Jump for the Rose and was a listed contributor for this year's Pinkfest Mini Boogie. He said the entire office contributed by selling raffle tickets for the special event and encouraging patients to speak with Sparks about getting more involved.

"Our office is happy to lend any support that we can to Marian and to help this incredible cause," Dr. Wooten said. "Marian is a long-time cherished employee, and we're happy to see her making such a positive influence after her struggle with breast cancer."

This year's Pinkfest Mini Boogie was held in September at Skydive Spaceland in Rosharon. The money raised during the event is enough to go toward screenings for about 100 women, according to Sparks.

Sparks has raised about $100,000 for The Rose through skydives and Jump for the Rose events. She developed Jump for the Rose in 2010 and made her 2,000th skydive this year on June 7, which is National Cancer Survivors Day.

"Marian isn't just a great contributor to the community, she is an inspiration for other women struggling with breast cancer and for those who have family members who have been affected by this terrible disease," Dr. Wooten said.

Dr. Wooten's practice, Dynamic Dental Solutions, offers TMJ (temporomandibular joint) treatment, cosmetic dentistry, full-face orthodontics, prosthodontics and snoring and sleep apnea appliances. The practice, 1410 Cedar Bayou Rd., offers tomographic X-rays and laser caries detection, as well as rhinometry and pharyngometry to diagnose sleep apnea.

Dr. Wooten focuses on cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics and neuromuscular dentistry. Neuromuscular dentistry involves assessing a patient's jaw, muscles, nerves and bite and then providing TMJ therapy, orthodontic or restorative solutions. About 10 million Americans struggle with TMJ symptoms such as tooth sensitivity, headaches, neck pains, worn enamel, ringing of the ears and facial soreness.

Dr. Wooten provides TMJ therapy and treatment in three phrases. The first phase includes providing palliative therapy that diagnoses the pain, occlusal therapy that diagnoses the bite and an orthotic mouthpiece that rapidly addresses TMJ symptoms. Next, Dr. Wooten uses dental orthopedics to reposition the jaw and jaw muscles. Finally, Dr. Wooten will use either orthodontics or restorative dentistry to correct the bite. In extreme cases, Dr. Wooten will recommend surgery.

Dr. Wooten has taken countless hours in continuing education in cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, gnathology and orthopedics.

Dr. Wooten completed his undergraduate degree from West Texas State University (now Texas A&M University) and then attended the University of Texas Dental Branch at the Texas Medical Center in Houston, where he graduated in the top 10 percent of his class and was elected to the national dental honor society Omicron Kappa Upsilon.

After college, Dr. Wooten was selected by the United States Public Health Service Hospital for a one-year training program. There, he trained in oral surgery, restorative dentistry, pathology, pharmacology, radiology, internal medicine and prosthodontics. He was assigned as the Chief Dental Officer of the United States Public Health Service in Houston and achieved the rank of lieutenant commander.

Dr. Wooten is a past board member of the Greater Houston Dental Society and the Texas Academy of General Dentistry.
