Tomas Fulajtar will deliver opening day keynote address

Newbury Park, CA (PRWEB) September 04, 2015

Tomas Fulajtar, a senior Machine Translation (MT) researcher with Moravia, will be a Keynote Speaker at the 10th Machine Translation Marathon in Prague, September 7-12. Speaking on the topic of real-world application of a MT workflow, Fulajtar's presentation will take place from 11:00 a.m.-noon in room S9.

The MT Marathon 2015 is a weeklong gathering of machine translation researchers, developers, students and users. Supported by the European Union's "Cracking the Language Barrier" initiative, the MT Marathon includes:

  • Lectures, labs and tutorials on machine translation
  • Technical talks about open source tools
  • Hacking projects to advance tools or research in shorter time frames.

"Machine translation is the most important advancement in localization since translation memory," said Fulajtar. "But despite its benefits, it doesn't work in isolation, especially in cases where complex localization projects are involved or when high-quality translations are mandatory. For best results, machine translation must be deployed in a well-orchestrated localization model that integrates MT, automated and human post-editing, and a customized quality plan.

"Like any method of automation, machine translation can actually be counter-productive, if it isn't used correctly. It's a tool that enhances but doesn't replace the value of professional language skills, so it's important for localization professionals to keep up-to-date on machine-translation advancements."
