World Allergy Organization (WAO) Biennial Congress Convenes in Seoul in October

Milwaukee, WI. (PRWEB) August 19, 2015

During the XXIV World Allergy Congress (WAC 2015) in Seoul, October 14-17, more than 200 internationally known experts from 38 countries will address the most up-to-date understanding of allergic diseases and asthma and the future of patient care. As one of the most comprehensive scientific meetings in the field, the Congress will help to expand the knowledge and practice of allergy/immunology, reinforce the importance of integrated diagnostic and management approaches, and explore prevention strategies.

The World Allergy Organization (WAO) will host WAC 2015 in collaboration with the Korean Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Clinical Immunology (KAAACI) and their mutually collaborating partner the Asia Pacific Association of Pediatric Allergy, Respirology and Immunology (APAPARI). The Congress expects to gather 2000 delegates from 60 countries including specialists in allergy/immunology, ENT, respiratory medicine, pediatrics, dermatology, internal medicine, allied health, and other related specialties.

"At the Congress in Seoul we will look at allergic diseases and asthma throughout the human life cycle. How much can we determine early on, and how can we positively influence health from the start?" said Dr Lanny Rosenwasser, President of the World Allergy Organization and Scientific Program Chair of WAC 2015. "Asthma is a good example. It's the most common chronic disease among children, and it's under-diagnosed and under-treated. This creates a substantial burden to individuals and families, possibly restricting individuals' activities for a lifetime. The scientific program includes opportunities to look thoroughly at our current understanding of asthma and its co-existing conditions."

The scientific program will feature more than 125 Symposia, Workshops, Abstracts and Poster sessions. New Horizon sessions will provide in-depth and diverse perspectives on allergen-specific immunotherapy, biologics, personalized medicine, the microbiome, asthma, anaphylaxis, chronic rhinosinusitis, drug allergy, food allergy, and more. For the first time delegates can follow a Pediatrics Track with sessions on asthma, pharmacological agents, genetics, environmental issues, food allergy, and pathogenesis.
