Just in time for summer, Delaware North at Sequoia and Kings Canyon debuts an all-new look for Grant Grove Cabins and Cedar Grove Lodge

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, Calif. (PRWEB) June 11, 2015

With summer in full swing, two adventure-ready getaways – Cedar Grove Lodge and the Grant Grove Cabins in Kings Canyon National Park – will be showcasing an array of updates and renovations just in time to welcome a sweep of seasonal travelers. Both open for the summer and early fall, the classic locations now give fans of the authentic national park experience even more to love.

"Whether guests are traveling to Kings Canyon for the very first time or the twentieth, this is such a wonderful way to welcome them into the summer season," says Colin Baldock, General Manager, Delaware North at Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. "We pride ourselves on staying true to our national park location, and these upgrades will allow us to do just that, even better, for many years to come."

Nestled in the heart of the idyllic Grant Grove Village, the Grant Grove Cabin complex's timber cabins will now feature fresh paint, new artwork, bedding, area rugs and an array of furniture including headboards, cabinets, bedside tables and chairs.

"We made every effort to stick with the rustic nature of the cabins' bare wood floors, and in some cases, bare wood walls," says DeDe Darnell, Principal and Interior Designer at Darden Architects, the firm in charge of the renovations. "The goal was to make selections that look like they were collected over time."

Darnell and her team used black iron headboards and curtain rods, red-and-black plaid bedding, rustic lamps, red bedside tables and black rockers, along with vintage national park prints from the WPA Federal Art Project, to evoke a vintage-inspired, cozy feel.

At Cedar Grove Lodge, the 21-room location had a number of updates to display when it opened early for the season on May 8. The full remodel; which includes new paint, refinished doors, tiling in select rooms, base boards, soft goods and furniture in the guest rooms and carpeting, lighting, artwork, signage and paint in all corridors; will complete by late June. Before next season, guest room carpeting and exterior painting will be done.

"Our objective with Cedar Grove was to freshen the guest rooms without losing their charm or having an impact on the environment," explains Darnell. "Changes include a warm, camel-colored paint and a berry-colored carpet in the corridors. Room signs are being replaced with a rustic copper plate, and the new furniture is outdoorsy, yet sophisticated. The best part about the furniture is the fact that it's made in the USA from either recycled wood, FSC wood or agriculture by-products, along with zero urea formaldehyde and low volatile organic compounds."
