According to court documents dated May 1st, defendants AbbVie, Inc., Auxilium Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Actavis, Inc. Endo Pharmaceuticals, and GlaxoSmithKline have submitted their answers to the plaintiffs' Master Long Form Complaint. Testosterone Litigation
Court records indicate that just under 1,400 testosterone lawsuits are currently pending n the Northern District of Illinois against the manufacturers of testosterone replacement medications. All of the complaints were filed on behalf of men who allegedly experienced heart attacks, strokes and other life-threatening cardiovascular events due their use of the drugs. Among other things, the various defendants have been accused of failing to adequately warn patients of these risks, and of wrongly marketing their testosterone therapies as appropriate treatments for low libido, muscle loss, fatigue and other symptoms commonly associated with male aging.

According to court documents, the federal testosterone litigation underway in the Northern District of Illinois was established by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) in June 2014. The Panel's June 6th Order noted that all of the actions had been filed in the wake of the U.S. Food & Drug Administration's (FDA) January 31, 2014 announcement that it was reviewing the cardiovascular risks allegedly associated with testosterone therapy.* According to Bernstein Liebhard LLP, on March 3, 2015, the FDA ordered the manufacturers of prescription testosterone treatments to add new information to the drug's labels regarding a potential association with heart attack and stroke. The agency also mandated that language pertaining to their approved indications be modified to clearly state that testosterone therapy has not been proven safe and effective for relieving symptoms associated with age-related drops in testosterone.
