National Public Education Initiative Takes Place April 19-25, 2015

McLean, VA (PRWEB) March 31, 2015

RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association will recognize National Infertility Awareness Week®, April 19 through April 25, 2015. The movement brings together millions of women and men living with infertility, healthcare, mental health and adoption professionals, and lawmakers to raise awareness about the disease.

RESOLVE works to improve the lives of women and men living with infertility. One in eight U.S. couples of childbearing age is unable to get pregnant or sustain a pregnancy. RESOLVE addresses this public health issue by providing community to these women and men, connecting them with others who can help, empowering them to find resolution, and giving voice to their demands for greater access to all family building options.

"The theme of National Infertility Awareness Week® is ‘You are not alone,' and RESOLVE is honored to bring together the entire infertility community to call attention to this disease," said Barbara Collura, RESOLVE's President/CEO. "We are urging the community to spread the message by educating others about infertility and all family building options, inspiring others with personal stories, and supporting others in their journey. Just hearing ‘You are not alone' can help in so many ways."

RESOLVE's National Infertility Awareness Week 2015 is supported by its NIAW Partners: EMD Serono, Ferring Pharmaceuticals, First Response, IntegraMed Fertility, OvaScience, and Shady Grove Fertility.

RESOLVE can provide experts for interviews on all aspects of infertility, as well as personal patient stories from women and men living with infertility. For inquiries about RESOLVE's resources, contact ejohnson(at)resolve(dot)org.

About National Infertility Awareness Week® (NIAW): Founded by RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association in 1979, NIAW is a movement that raises awareness about the disease of infertility and encourages the public to take charge of their reproductive health. Each year the infertility community comes together for one week to focus on ensuring that people trying to conceive know the guidelines for seeing a specialist when they are trying to conceive; enhancing public understanding that infertility is a disease that needs and deserves attention; and educating legislators about the disease of infertility and how it impacts people in their state. In 2010 NIAW became the only federally recognized health observance for infertility by the Department of Health and Human Services. For more information, visit http://www.resolve.org/niaw.
