KEPCO and QualityLogic Announce Worldwide Distribution Agreement for IEC 61850 Test Tools

Today at DistribuTECH, the Korea Electric Power Company (KEPCO) and QualityLogic signed an historic agreement that names QualityLogic the first worldwide distributor of the KEPCO IEC 61850 suite of test tools. The tools ensure interoperability of substation automation products that communicate using the IEC 61850 standard.

Today at DistribuTECH, the Korea Electric Power Company (KEPCO) and QualityLogic signed an historic agreement that names QualityLogic the first worldwide distributor of the KEPCO IEC 61850 suite of test tools. The two companies have been working together for three years to make commercial-quality IEC 61850 test tools available to the industry. The tools ensure interoperability of substation automation products that communicate using the IEC 61850 standard.

Under the agreement, QualityLogic will distribute:

• the KEPCO-developed IEC 61850 Client Conformance Test System based on the UCA Client Conformance Test Specification V1.1, and
• a Virtual Server product that facilitates Client development and test.

The tools, available now from QualityLogic, are reasonably priced. The IEC 61850 Client Conformance Verifier is the first automated test tool to implement the Conformance Test Procedures for Client System with IEC 61850-8-1 interface, Edition 1. The test tool is useful for certification and pre-certification testing, as well as development engineering test for IEC 61850 Clients.
