Video from Siborg Systems Inc outlines how to maintain and replace parts of Smart Tweezers and LCR-Reader LCR-meters including the OLED screen, battery, probes, etc.

Waterloo, Ontario (PRWEB) December 27, 2014

Smart Tweezers have become world renowned for their efficient, high accuracy measurements, and are currently used by professionals worldwide for applications from maintenance and repair to creating PCBs. Canada based Siborg Systems Inc. has recently released a video showing how to maintain Smart Tweezers and LCR-Reader including replacement of the battery, screen, and gold-plated tips that act as the device's probe.

The combination of a set of tweezers and a powerful yet small LCR-meter have made Smart Tweezers and LCR-Reader LCR-meters an instantly recognizable device. With Surface Mount Technology becoming a widely used method of manufacturing PCBs, using traditional bench type testers can become cumbersome. Smart Tweezers and LCR-Reader make short work of testing and troubleshooting PCBs; with just a touch of the probes to a component and Smart Tweezers will automatically determine the type of component and the best test parameters to use, and then measure accordingly for Inductance, Resistance, or Capacitance, as well as secondary values such as the Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR). All measurement results, including the main impedance value, component type, test parameters, and secondary values, are shown on the built-in display instantly.

Smart Tweezers LCR-meter new video gives users an easy-to-follow repair guide for their Smart Tweezers ST-5S or LCR-Reader devices. This video demonstrates the best way to deconstruct the device to replace the screen, the battery, which tools are best suited, and how to remedy issues when replacing the tips or arms. By allowing customers to replace parts of the device themselves, they no longer have to wait for shipping or customs when returning the device for maintenance.

Smart Tweezers have been available for a decade and have become an indispensable tool to those who use them. The popular LCR-meter makes evaluating Surface Mount Devices more time efficient with fully automatic measurements and no required set-up, unlike traditional testers which require the user to stop and set-up for the next evaluation, especially for small value components. LCR-Reader ia capable of measuring 10 pF capacitors, 1 uH inductances and 5 mOhm resistors without additional set-up.

Currently, there are two available devices, the LCR-Reader and the Smart Tweezers ST-5S. The Smart Tweezers ST-5S is an updated version of the model ST-5. This model includes features such as component sorting, semi-automatic offset subtraction, variable tolerances, continuity and diode testing, and a basic accuracy of 0.2%. Designed for SMT production lines, the ST-5S arrives with a calibration certificate for companies who require annual calibration of their test equipment. The ST-5S offers easy-access-settings with a joystick-like navigation. Instead of having to access the menus to change settings, specific measurement modes and frequencies can be selected quickly by pressing the button directionally; i.e.: pressing the button left or right will change the measurement mode.

The LCR-Reader is the consumer's choice for LCR-meters. This model is a “budget” model for those who want a device with main features like that of Smart Tweezers but without the high price. To be able to offer a device which still has a high basic accuracy of 1% and quick evaluations, a few features were omitted, including; component sorting, continuity and diode testing, offset subtraction and variable test signals. Features that are included are;
    -Automatic and Manual L, C, R and ESR evaluations
    -Automatic best range selection
    -Basic accuracy of 1%
    -Powered by a rechargeable Li-Ion battery
        -One button navigation cycles through the measurement mode when pressed

The new look of Smart Tweezers debuted with the LCR-Reader's slimmer body build, bright display and lighter weight of 1 oz. The look is the main difference between the older ST-5 and the new ST-5S model. Both devices are powered by Li-Ion battery and can be charged via micro-USB.

Smart Tweezers LCR-meter and LCR-Reader have become instantly recognizable tools for all work involving Surface Mount Technology, including repair and maintenance to manufacturing and troubleshooting. The sharp, gold-plated probes and high accuracy, instantaneous measurements have become a proven success.
