Sears Expands Curbside Convenience to Include In-Vehicle Returns, Exchanges

Shop Your Way® Members can now Pick Up, Return, Exchange from a Vehicle for Free - in Less than Five Minutes, Guaranteed

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., Sept. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sears, a leading integrated retailer focused on making shopping easier for Shop Your Way members and customers, announced it has added returns and exchanges to its popular In-Vehicle Pickup service. The new integrated retail service, powered by the Shop Your Way mobile app, lets members pick up, return or exchange their purchases for free – guaranteed in five minutes or less – without ever leaving their vehicle.

"Buying what you really want should be easy – that's why we continue to make it more convenient to pick-up, return and exchange items that you have purchased right from your car," said Leena Munjal, senior vice president, Sears Holdings. "We're all living busy, on-the-go lives, and this latest expansion to Sears integrated retail conveniences means that you can spend less time making a return or exchange and more time shopping."

How it works:

  • To start an in-vehicle return or exchange, a member visits sears.com, clicks on the customer service link, chooses "Returns & Exchanges," and then follows the prompts to identify the return item. For an exchange, the member selects a new item and when the replacement is ready for pickup, Sears sends an email confirmation.
  • The member then heads to the Sears store they selected, parks in a designated In-Vehicle Pickup spot, and uses the Shop'In® feature in the Shop Your Way mobile app to let the store know he/she has arrived. A timer will start on the phone and, within five minutes, a Sears associate will arrive and complete the return or exchange.

Earlier this year, Sears launched the In-Vehicle Pickup service and its corresponding feature on the Shop Your Way mobile app to better connect in-store and online shopping. Members who "Shop'In" from the app while at or near a Sears or Kmart store can also unlock special deals and personalized offers, take advantage of valuable e-coupons, price and product comparisons, customer reviews and sweepstakes.
