Fisher Nuts and Chef Alex Guarnaschelli Announce Second Annual "My Fresh Twist" Recipe Contest

CHICAGO, Sept. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Fisher® Nuts has announced the second annual "My Fresh Twist" recipe contest today. Beginning now through October 21, 2014 consumers are invited to submit an original recipe using walnuts, almonds or pecans to www.myfreshtwist.com for a chance to win a grand prize that includes a trip for two to New York City to meet Chef Alex Guarnaschelli.

"Putting a fresh twist on a traditional dish or recreating a recipe with new flavors for the season is a great way to add a little variety to your recipe repertoire," said Guarnaschelli. "The Fisher Nuts 'My Fresh Twist' recipe contest is the perfect opportunity to showcase your own signature dish or your twist on a tried-and-true family recipe." 

Each submission will be featured on www.myfreshtwist.com where Fisher Fans and their friends and families will be able to vote to select the top fifteen finalists. Voting will take place October 22, 2014 through November 4, 2014. Chef Alex Guarnaschelli and a panel of judges will choose the grand prize winner from the top fifteen finalists. The recipes will be judged on their originality, integration of nuts, taste and visual appeal.

One grand prize winner will receive a trip for two to New York City, a meet-and-greet with Guarnaschelli, and a $500 cash prize. As with last year's winning recipe, Walnut-Bleu Cheese Date Vinaigrette Salad from Lori McLain of Denton, Texas, this year's winning recipe will also be professionally photographed and featured on the Fisher Nuts website, Pinterest page and in news publications nationwide. The grand prize winner will be announced on November 21.

Fourteen runners up will receive a $100 gift card and a signed copy of Old School Comfort Food: The Way I Learned to Cook by Guarnaschelli. In addition to the grand prize winner and runners up, Fisher Nuts will select ten weekly winners from September 9 through October 21 to receive a copy of Old School Comfort Food: The Way I Learned to Cook and a suite of Fisher Nuts products.
