Minister Denis Lebel Marks the 40th Anniversary of the Federation des clubs de motoneigistes du Quebec

CHICOUTIMI, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Sept. 20, 2014) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, will be guest speaker at the annual convention of the Federation des clubs de motoneigistes du Quebec (FCMQ). The topics of discussion will include the efforts the Government of Canada has made to support the development of this industry, among others, in its equipment acquisition and trail upgrade projects.

From 2006 to the present day, CED has awarded more than $20 million for 165 projects, representing investments of almost $40 million in Quebec's regions.

-- In 2012, the snowmobile industry generated $2 billion in direct economic
benefits in Quebec.
-- According to the FCMQ, Quebec is home to more than 800,000 snowmobile
enthusiasts, namely, 13% of the Quebec population over the age of 15.
-- La FCMQ has over 200 clubs representing roughly 100,000 members. Some
5,000 volunteers ensure the maintenance and safety of the 33,500
kilometres of marked trails.
