SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

MicroPower Technologies Inc., an award-winning provider of surveillance solutions optimized for rapid, cost-effective deployment, announced today that its has been awarded the 2014 Golden Eagle award by the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4). The award, sponsored by SDM Magazine, was presented to MicroPower and its customer, American Airlines Center, for excellence in security deployments at sporting venues.

The Golden Eagle award recognizes excellence in the safety and security aspects of sports venues and honors the best project among all nominees each year. This year's honor was presented at the fifth annual National Sports Safety and Security Conference and Exhibition, held last week in Indianapolis. The American Airlines Center project was selected for the award by nearly 400 attendees, who voted for the winner based on two finalist presentations.

“On behalf of SDM, I would like to congratulate MicroPower Technologies on its win of the second annual NCS4 Golden Eagle Award,” said Laura Stepanek, Editor, SDM. “The award recognizes excellence in the safety and security aspects of sports venues, honoring the best project among all nominees each year. The solar, wireless video surveillance solution that MicroPower and its integrator installed at American Airlines Center offers increased security and tighter control of business operations. Providing those kinds of benefits to an end-use facility in the world of sports is the essence of the Golden Eagle Award.”

Joe Heinlein, IT Director for the American Airlines Center, presented during the conference, providing details on how he sought a surveillance solution to monitor 13 access points for the facility's surrounding parking lots. Stadium officials wanted to be able to closely observe cash parking lot collections to ensure that employees were following protocol and parking fees were being collected.

Because of ongoing construction surrounding American Airlines Center, the organization needed a surveillance alternative that was mobile and could be easily re-deployed as needed. Heinlein and the IT staff worked with systems integrator partner Global Security Integration (GSI) to find a cost-effective alternative to traditional camera options. The team ultimately determined that MicroPower's solar, wireless surveillance platform would be an ideal option for the center's specific requirements.

MicroPower Technologies delivers reliable and cost-effective wireless video surveillance solutions that create superior value for customers by reducing deployment and infrastructure costs. Its wireless security solution does not require cabling for power or data transmission. This approach removes the restrictions found with traditional cameras and allows users to place cameras closest to areas of risk without the added the complexity of trenching, or pulling cable for data transmission or power needs. Furthermore, the system can be easily and rapidly redeployed, even in environments with limited infrastructure.

“This award demonstrates our commitment to delivering innovative surveillance solutions that significantly reduce infrastructure requirements and investments to the sports stadium market,” said Dave Tynan, Vice President of Global Marketing and Sales, MicroPower Technologies. “Additionally, we are honored to be recognized for this project alongside American Airlines Center, which strives to create the safest environment possible for fans, visitors and local residents.”
