Parkside Elementary School of Highline School District Are Runners-Up in Nationwide Math Contest

Since mid-January, the students of Parkside Elementary in Des Moines, Washington have been actively participating in Think Through Math's famed competition, the Sixth Annual MX3, ALONG with more than 11,970 schools nationwide.

Think Through Math is the nation's largest Web-based math software and it has won numerous awards for its excellence and adaptivity personalizing instruction for students in grades 3 through Algebra I. Since mid-January, the students of Parkside Elementary in Des Moines, Washington have been actively participating in Think Through Math's famed competition, the Sixth Annual MX3, ALONG with more than 11,970 schools nationwide. The sixth annual Think Through Math MX3 competition pits schools across the country to complete and pass math lessons in a bracket style contest that determines the top math school in the nation.

After the two-month, fast paced math contest ended, the 61 students of Parkside Elementary School were barely edged out by the students of Fox Elementary School in Fox, Oklahoma and so have been named the official runners-up in the March Math Madness competition.

During the contest, Parkside students spent 492 hours on Think Through Math completing 63,376 math problems. They completed 2,791 math lessons during the qualification and elimination rounds. They were such great math students that they logged 127 hours outside of the traditional school day!

On Thursday, April 24 at 10:00 a.m., Ms. Lamourex and staff at the Parkside Elementary School will recognize and reward their students with the Think Through Math March “MATH” Madness Runner-up trophy and medals.
