The new STEM Mobile Discovery Lab features opportunities for students to engage with magnets, sound waves, robot programming and 3D printing, among other STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) activities. The Micron-sponsored lab is part of a new grant program from the Micron Foundation to help area elementary and middle schools offset three-fourths of the cost of a full-day STEM experience that includes the Discovery Lab. The program is available for 50 schools each year for the next two years.

"Our primary mission at the Micron Foundation is to spark a passion for STEM education in youth in the hopes of helping develop next-generation engineers, and we're thrilled to partner with Discover Technology to enable this mobile science lab to help accomplish this task," said Dee Mooney, executive director of the Micron Foundation.

Discover Technology already operates two STEM Mobile Discovery Labs that serve students in other locations in Idaho with hands-on discovery environments and experiences. The new mobile lab supported by Micron further promotes Discover Technology's efforts to partner with educators to help lead students into experiential discovery in STEM disciplines.

"The result of these mobile lab experiences is a greater relevance of existing curriculum and an increased interest and engagement from both educators and students," said Dr. Lorna Finman, founder of Discover Technology.
