FAIRFAX, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

ICF International ICFI, a leading provider of consulting services and technology solutions to government and commercial clients, has been awarded a new contract by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Office of Smoking and Health (OSH), in partnership with the Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) within the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), to conduct the 2013-2014 National Adult Tobacco Survey (NATS). This survey effort consists of completing 75,000 interviews per year among U.S. landline and cell phone users in English and Spanish-speaking households. The contract, which was awarded in the third quarter of 2013, has a value of approximately $8 million over two years of data collection.

Under this contract, ICF will collect time-critical monitoring data needed to evaluate both the effectiveness of new regulatory authorities given to FDA under the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act and the effectiveness of programs and policies under CDC's National Tobacco Control Program. The size and scope of the project will allow researchers to study tobacco use and cessation patterns across several age, gender, and racial/ethnic subgroups.

“ICF is very proud to continue supporting CDC and FDA after designing and implementing the first National Adult Tobacco Survey in 2009,” said James Dayton, senior vice president for ICF International. “We look forward to providing actionable information on the understanding and impact of federal tobacco control programs and regulations.”
