Following an article about new bike share stations opening up in Salt Lake City, city bike manufacturer Linus Bike releases a statement.

Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) April 01, 2013

On April 1, 2013, Linus Bike releases a statement following an ABC 4 article by Kimberly Nelson discussing a new plan to bring in a bike program that has already seen success in Washington, D.C., Boulder, and Madison, Wis.

According to the ABC 4 article, the GREENbike program is a bike share coming to Salt Lake City, and is designed to let commuters pick up and drop off a GREENbike at different stations throughout the city. The stations will be put up soon, with 10 stations around the city and 100 GREENbikes between them.

The article goes on to mention that there is a yearly fee of $75 – or users can pay $5 for one day, or $15 for a week. While there is no limit on how many times you can use one of the bikes, there is a 30-minute limit on how long you can use one in a single cycling session.

The director of GREENbike, Ben Bolt, was quoted in the article as saying, “We found that if people are keeping bike share bikes longer than 30 minutes they're usually chained up in an office somewhere or tucked away where no one else can use them.”

The article states that the expected use of GREENbikes within the first year will be about 77,000 miles. The stations are going up now, but the new program won't be in service until April 8.

China Reevers, representative of Linus Bike, manufacturer of city bikes, commends the new program being implemented in Salt Lake City. “This is a great program for people looking to avoid the commute when trying to get to work. It's also a great way to get in some exercise while in Salt Lake City, and will help cut down on pollution! We hope the GREENbike program will be successful and continue to spread to other major cities within the U.S.”

Linus Bike is a California-based bicycle manufacturer that specializes in creating vintage style city bikes and commuter bikes. Not simply a bicycle company, Linus Bike sells a complete line of accessories for the environmentally conscious and for those who have a fondness for European style bicycles and the great tradition of European cycling.
