Embellishments- Beading, sequins, and sparkles create a glamorous look that catches the eye.

Unique back and necklines- Girls don't want to go for the plain strapless or sweetheart necklines anymore. They are wearing dresses with one-shoulder strap, crisscross halter straps and plunging necklines to attract attention. They are also showing a lot of skin on their backs.

Lace- Tulle and silk are being replaced by soft lace to add a bit of a Venetian feminine touch.

Bright colors- Girls are wearing bright, bold, multicolored gowns rather than the classic muted colors or pastels.

However, parents are less than supportive for the new style trends Schlossberg says. “The kinds of dresses most girls want to wear are often revealing. For a 16 or 17-year-old girl, it could be a little inappropriate and it's hard to gain parental approval,” she says. “At Estelle's we have such a wide variety of Long Island prom dresses that it's easier to compromise.
