Long Island prom dresses retailer Estelle's Dressy Dresses introduces some of the leading formal fashion fads for this year and how to determine the ‘right dress.'

Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) March 27, 2013

On March 27, Estelle Schlossberg, owner of Estelle's Dressy Dresses, responds to an article published by The Tennessean, which gives tips on how to pick out the right dress this prom season.

According to The Tennessean, teenage girls are looking for more of a red carpet look when choosing a prom dress. Instead of the old fashioned, princess gowns with layers upon layers of tulle, girls are picking sleek floor length numbers with sexy necklines.

Schlossberg says young girls are socially conscious about the fashion choices they make. “Every girl wants to have the best looking dress – the right dress,” she says. “It's a bit of friendly competition. In previous years, girls wanted to look like princesses. Now, most girls want to look like Oscar runway starlets.”

Schlossberg says some of the new glitz and glam style for this season's trends include:

  • Embellishments- Beading, sequins, and sparkles create a glamorous look that catches the eye.
  • For the original version on PRWeb visit: http://www.prweb.com/releases/prweb2013/3/prweb10551563.htm

  • Unique back and necklines- Girls don't want to go for the plain strapless or sweetheart necklines anymore. They are wearing dresses with one-shoulder strap, crisscross halter straps and plunging necklines to attract attention. They are also showing a lot of skin on their backs.
  • Lace- Tulle and silk are being replaced by soft lace to add a bit of a Venetian feminine touch.
  • Bright colors- Girls are wearing bright, bold, multicolored gowns rather than the classic muted colors or pastels.
  • However, parents are less than supportive for the new style trends Schlossberg says. “The kinds of dresses most girls want to wear are often revealing. For a 16 or 17-year-old girl, it could be a little inappropriate and it's hard to gain parental approval,” she says. “At Estelle's we have such a wide variety of Long Island prom dresses that it's easier to compromise. We can also tailor the dress to meet specific modifications. So if the girl picks her dream gown, but the mother thinks the slit is a little too risqué, we can adjust it to fit her likeness.”
