QUEENSLAND, Australia February, 2013 – Weddings are such joyous occasions. On this very special day, a couple exchanges vows to love and cherish each other for the rest of their life in front of their loved ones. What most people don't see is what goes on in the background. What does it take to put together the perfect wedding? The first impression, and the single component that sets the tone for the wedding day, is the wedding invitations. They say it only takes a quick glance to make a good or bad impression, so well-designed creative invitations are important to make the first impression an ideal one.

Bonnie Wilkins, Owner and Designer of Brisbane stationery design business Blis Design, helps make dream weddings come true. She relates, 'This is your big day and my job is to help you by doing whatever I can to make your dream stationery come to life.' www.blisdesign.com.au/

The perfect start to modern wedding invitations begins with a Blis Design complimentary 'in home' design consultation with Bonnie where she guides her clients through a simple and easy process. Bonnie and the engaged couple discuss wedding themes, colours, items of stationery needed, inspirations and visions for the event invitations.'

Bonnie says, 'During our consultation we look at card types, shapes and sizes and a heap of stationery examples including invitations, place cards, table numbers, order-of-service booklets and so on. I guide my clients through whole folders of paper samples and we look through books containing wording examples for their invitations, response cards and wishing well cards, as well as fonts and embellishments. This process is absolutely free.'

At the end of the consultations Bonnie provides a design using everything that was discussed to make an invitation suite sample. The sample includes the invitation in its envelope or box, a wishing well card, response card and envelope, and a map if the couple are including one. www.blisdesign.com.au/

Once the order is placed, Bonnie works with the clients to refine their design until it is exactly what they want – whatever they would like to see changed is altered until the design is perfect. At the design consultation the clients will have selected their wording preferences but they can change them at any time until just before printing, when a digital proof is sent to them for approval. Then one of two things can happen: the clients can choose between 'Fully-Assembled Stationery' and a 'Do-It-Yourself Kit', which can be a great money saving option for couples who want personalised modern wedding invitations at a reasonable price.  www.blisdesign.com.au/

Bonnie continues, 'With the DIY wedding invitation kit, all the paper and cardstock has been sourced and the happy couple are supplied with cutting guides so they can see at a glance where to measure and cut to take the guesswork out of getting the maximum usage from each sheet, and they get a couple of extras sheets of paper or card stock in case of slip-ups.'

They also receive the envelopes or boxes for the invitations, embellishments (such as ribbon and buckles or flowers) and all the adhesive they'll need. Bonnie creates templates for the couple so that they can position elements in the same place each time – speeding up the construction process and ensuring consistent results.
