The month of March seems to be marching right up behind February! Illinois insurance agency, Stassen Insurance Agency, Inc., encourages all local residents to embrace the month of March as American Red Cross Month.

It was back in 1943 that President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared March as American Red Cross Month. Red Cross is not only there to provide shelter and emotional support during catastrophic events and disasters, but also there to educate communities across the nation on disaster preparation, the best ways to respond to emergencies and more. Without such a compassionate and hard working organization, national disasters would be much more chaotic than they already are. Roosevelt described Red Cross as “the greatest single crusade of mercy in all of history.” The organization has proved this statement correct!

How can residents recognize American Red Cross for their efforts and keep the organization going strong? By supporting, of course! Stassen Insurance Agency, Inc. has put together a list of ways that locals can show their support throughout March.

•     Donate blood at a local Red Cross facility.
•     Be an advocate for the organization by promoting Red Cross Month on Facebook, Twitter and even LinkedIn profiles. This may encourage other locals to get involved, too.

•     Take, teach or host a class this month. Valuable classes include CPR, First Aid, etc.
•     Make a financial donation on the Red Cross website.
