OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Randy Woelfel, Chief Executive Officer of NOVA Chemicals Corporation, has been selected to join the Black & Veatch Board of Directors. A senior executive with decades of international leadership experience in the gas, oil and chemicals fields, Woelfel's appointment as an independent director was approved by the Black & Veatch Board at their February meeting.

“As Black & Veatch further enhances our governance structure and better positions the company for growth, we are pleased to welcome Randy Woelfel to the Board of Directors,” said Len Rodman, Chairman, President and CEO of Black & Veatch. “Randy brings a wealth of international experience in key areas that we expect will drive significant growth for the company in the years ahead.”

Woelfel began his career more than 35 years ago with Royal Dutch Shell, one of the world's leading oil, gas and chemicals marketers and producers. He subsequently focused on the petrochemicals sector, including serving in international business leadership positions for 14 years based in England and Belgium. Since returning to the United States in 2004, he has served Texas' largest new business incubator as managing director of its energy group, and in executive roles in the plastics and chemicals fields. Woelfel joined NOVA Chemicals as CEO in 2009.

“The team at Black & Veatch is helping meet critical infrastructure challenges across the globe, and I see exciting opportunities for the future. I am delighted to be joining Black & Veatch's Board and supporting the company's continued success,” said Woelfel.

“Given the company's strategic direction for continued global growth, Randy's solid business skills, along with his broad energy and process industries background, make him an ideal choice as the Board plans for the long-term future of the company,” said Rodman.
