(PRWEB UK) 16 January 2013

The recent rise of smartphones and tablets has sparked a change in the way the UK bank. As the nation becomes more comfortable and familiar with the use of mobile technology and online payments, more and more online banking services are being used.

Recent research shows that although tablets and mobiles are popular for banking purposes, they are yet to catch up with the popularity of banking via desktops and laptops in general. However, this trend is bucked by the youngsters who are ever increasingly using mobile banking. In the UK, 57% of 25-34 year olds and 53% of 18-24 year olds say they have accessed banking on smartphone or tablet either by app or mobile web. The findings go further to suggest that mobile smartphone apps are the most popular way to access banking, with 25% of 18-24 year olds choosing to access finances in this way and a further 52% of those who have the capabilities on their mobile device keen on using contactless payments.

It seems as though mobile banking and electronic payments are ever popular with all of those who took part in the survey including all age groups and genders, 65% plan on using mobile payments again within the next three months.

The findings also demonstrate the way in which users browse the internet has changed over recent years.

Ben Austin, CEO of SEO Positive commented, ‘Users now have various platforms to browse and use the internet on be it via desktops, laptops, smartphones or tablets and this is therefore changing our habits. From an SEO point of view we need to keep track of this and adopt at the same rate.'
