HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Ron Martin, incoming Board President of HomeAid Houston, addressed hundreds at the 2013 Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) Forecast Luncheon on Thursday, January 10 to celebrate the success and tenth anniversary of HomeAid Houston. HomeAid Houston is a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit organization which identifies homeless care providers in need of additional capacity, and pairs them with GHBA builders, vendors and suppliers to donate their time, materials and labor to help build transitional shelters.

Martin, also Vice President of Operations for the Houston-based homebuilding company, Grand View Builders, spoke of HomeAid's accomplishments throughout the past ten years to builders, developers, remodelers, mortgage brokers, bankers and local politicians. HomeAid was started in 2003, with the first shelter dedicated in 2005. Since then, HomeAid has added over 400 beds and $8.5 million in real estate to Houston's homeless community.

GHBA builders, remodelers, developers and associates have donated over $4.6 million in labor and materials to HomeAid Houston projects in the last ten years. Martin expressed his gratitude for the support from the GHBA and its members. He stated, “Together we have strengthened our community one individual and one family at time. We have changed the course of history.” Martin's remarks also included his thanks to outgoing Board President, Mark Welch of David Weekly Homes, for his service and commitment to the organization.

The annual kickoff event for the local homebuilding industry featured a keynote address with a forecast of the economy and the new home industry, and was given by Mike Inselmann, President and Founder of Metrostudy, a full-service housing research and consulting company. Islemann noted that Houston (and Texas) lead the country in job openings and influx of residents, with 85,000 new jobs created in 2012. With these surges, Islemann said that now is the ideal time to buy a house in Houston since supply is low and the prices are already increasing.

In addition to leading HomeAid's Houston efforts in 2013, Martin also anticipates continued success for his company, Grand View Builders in the new year. “2012 was one of our most successful years; I am extremely proud of the Grand View Builders team, who have set the bar very high for 2013, and anticipate an even stronger year!”
