Computer manufacturer Acer will provide Bright Cluster Manager to eliminate the complexity of provisioning, job scheduling, monitoring and managing HPC clusters, as well as cloud-enable their HPC cluster solutions.

San Jose, California (PRWEB) December 17, 2012

Bright Computing, the leading independent provider of cluster management software, today announced a global agreement with Acer. Effective immediately, Acer will offer Bright Cluster Manager with their AW2000 family of High Performance Computing (HPC) solutions. Acer customers will be able to provision, schedule, monitor and manage their clusters with Bright's intuitive GUI or powerful Cluster Management Shell (CMSH), significantly reducing the effort required to manage powerful clusters.

“We selected Bright to give our customers the most advanced cluster management solution available,” said Sean Stacey, Senior Manager HPC, Server & Storage, Acer EMEA. “Acer sells complete servers for supercomputing workloads, not individual components. The ease of use, performance and intuitive interface of Bright Cluster Manager provides an out-of-the-box solution, enabling our customers to focus on successful HPC results, not server management.”

The partnership enables Acer to deliver Bright Cluster Manager software pre-installed on Acer HPC clusters. Acer customers will benefit from improved productivity, uptime, scalability, performance and security, while reducing total cost of ownership. Purpose-built for rapid system configuration and testing, comprehensive management and system monitoring, Bright Cluster Manager makes the management of multiple, complex systems easy and frees up computing resources to focus on mission critical tasks. In addition, Bright makes Acer clusters cloud-ready, enabling customers to easily extend their systems into Amazon EC2 with just a few mouse clicks or commands, and manage these nodes as part of their Acer clusters.

“Acer's AW2000 servers are excellent hardware solutions for HPC users,” said Dave Maples, Senior VP of Sales for Bright Computing. “The combination of Acer servers with Bright Cluster Manager creates a powerful, compute-ready cluster that is intuitive to manage and easily extended into the cloud.”
