Three Greenberg Traurig Attorneys Selected for Law360 MVP Awards

Honors Go to ‘Legal Top Guns'

Three attorneys at international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP were named among the 2012 Law360 MVP Awards winners. The awards honor attorneys whose achievements in major litigation or transactions have set a new standard for accomplishment in corporate law.

The Greenberg Traurig attorneys selected as MVP's 2012:

Hilarie Bass, a litigation shareholder in Miami, serves on the firm's Executive Committee and is the former chair of Greenberg Traurig's Litigation Practice. She has represented clients in commercial cases in jury and non-jury trials involving hundreds of millions of dollars in controversy. A trial attorney for more than 30 years, Bass has worked on and settled more than 100 cases, tried more than 20 cases to a conclusion, and argued numerous appeals. She currently is lead counsel for the Homebuilder Group in the Chinese Drywall MDL, having served as lead liaison counsel in prior MDL's. In 2011, she was acknowledged for her significant trial achievements, and was inducted into The American College of Trial Lawyers.

James N. Boudreau, a shareholder in Philadelphia, leads the Labor and Employment Section's Class and Collective Action Practice. He represents management in class action and complex employment litigation, devoting the majority of his practice to managing teams of attorneys and paralegals in nationwide class and collective actions from receipt of the complaint through discovery, class certification and trial. Boudreau was selected due to his representation of employers in several putative class and collective actions which addressed and resolved many cutting edge legal issues.

Joel A. Katz, is chair of the Global Media & Entertainment Practice, serves on the firm's executive committee and is founding shareholder and co-managing shareholder emeritus of the Atlanta office. As the former chairman of the American Bar Association's Entertainment & Sports Law Forum, Katz is widely recognized as a leader in the field of entertainment and media law. His clients include some of the world's most well-known entertainers, music producers, record companies, concert promoters and Fortune 500 companies. Among his many awards and recognitions, Katz was named to Billboard Magazine's "Power 100," a list highlighting the foremost power players in the music industry. In June of 2012, Variety magazine listed Katz among an elite group of leading entertainment attorneys referring to him as a “top gun in entertainment law.” Similarly, The Hollywood Reporter, named Katz to their “Power Lawyers” list of top entertainment lawyers for a sixth consecutive year in July.

The publication described the awards as going to “Top Legal Guns”. After reviewing close to 500 nominations, editors at Law360, a legal news service, chose 113 lawyers to honor as MVPs for their accomplishments in litigation or transactions between October 2011 and October 2012. The 2012 MVPs cross 22 practice areas and hail from 52 firms, according to Law360.

Greenberg Traurig LLP has recently been ranked in the BTI Client Service A-Team 2013 report. The firm joins “The BTI Client Service 30,” a list which makes up the 30 law firms who “perform five to 15 times better” out of the report's 650 law firms serving large clients, according to its publisher, The BTI Consulting Group (Wellesley, MA).

For the sixth consecutive year, Greenberg Traurig has more lawyers listed in Best Lawyers in America than any other law firm in the United States. The 2013 edition, also published by Best Lawyers®, lists more than 360 Greenberg Traurig lawyers. The firm had 22 lawyers named “Lawyers of the Year” by the publication.

Additionally, for the second consecutive year, Greenberg Traurig received the most overall first-tier rankings and the most first-tier metropolitan rankings for the United States in the U.S. News Media Group and Best Lawyers® 2013 "Best Law Firms" rankings released Nov. 1. The firm is also one of the top 20 firms with the most first-tier national rankings and is tied for the most practice areas with first-tier rankings in the United States.
