JM Sorge LSRPs among first to receive NJ DEP certification.

Somerville, NJ (PRWEB) December 03, 2012

JM Sorge, Inc., a leading NJ environmental consulting firm, announced that three team members recently completed and passed the first exam for New Jersey Licensed Site Remediate Professionals (NJ LSRPs). All three candidates previously held a temporary license as this exam was the first opportunity to become permanent LSRPs.

The New Jersey Site Remediation Professional Licensing Board and the Licensed Site Remediation Professional Association (LSRPA) offered the New Jersey LSRP exam on May 14, 2012. The exam was only open to candidates that already held a temporary license. It consisted of 165 multiple choice questions, covering regulatory requirements for site remediation in New Jersey as well as project management and practical financial and administrative issues.

The three candidates from JM Sorge – Joe Sorge, Todd Huffman, and James Vander Vliet – were notified this summer of their successful results and now hold the title of “Permanent LSRP.”

The NJDEP also recently invited Joe Sorge, president of JMS and a certified LSRP, to serve on a committee to develop technical guidance on Historic Pesticide contamination. The NJDEP is in the process of preparing new guidance on several topics to assist responsible parties and NJ LSRPs in conducting investigation/remediation protective of human health and the environment. The NJDEP selected committee members with strong qualifications to create committees with a good mix of different perspectives, backgrounds and experience.

About NJ LSRPs
Launched in May 2009 under the Site Remediation Reform Act (SRRA), the program gives LSRPs the responsibility for oversight of environmental investigation and cleanup. LSRPs now provide the day-to-day management of site remediation and ultimately certify that site investigations and clean-ups have been conducted in accordance with NJDEP standards.
