Scott Tucker Discovers Tropical Fish in Long Island Sound

TV Wildlife conservationist Scott Tucker, host of the popular East Coast TV show 'Expedition New England', recently highlighted how climate change has resulted in increasing numbers of tropical fish being found in Long Island Sound. The recreational website Homeandrecreation.org recently reported that an increasing number of tropical fish are being discovered in Long Island Sound. The report detailed how Tucker, together with his 6-year-old son, Race, appeared on the 'Good Morning Connecticut' weekend show where they brought a Spotfin Butterfly fish into the studio much to the delight of host Jeff Valin.

When you think of Long Island Sound tropical fish aren't usually the first thing that spring to mind. Rising ocean temperatures in the Atlantic, coupled with the natural Gulf Stream are resulting in more and more tropical fish being found in places as far north as Long Island Sound. The leisure website HomeAndRecreation.org recently featured an article where TV Wildlife conservationist Scott Tucker, host of the popular East Coast TV show 'Expedition New England' highlighted that in the past few years more and more tropical fish are being discovered in Long Island Sound.

The article on HomeAndRecreation.org detailed how Tucker appeared alongside his 6 year old son, Race, on WTNH's 'Good Morning Connecticut' where they brought a Spotfin Butterfly fish into the studio, which was discovered and caught in Long Island Sound. Tucker explained that Spotfin Butterfly fish are usually found in the Caribean, although they have been known to be found off the coast of the Carolinas.

According to the leisure website feature, Tucker went on to explain to host Jeff Valin that rising ocean temperatures are resulting in increasing numbers of tropical fish and seahorses being found as far north as Long Island Sound. When asked by Valin what was causing the ocean temperatures to rise? Tucker explained that climate change, caused by increased levels of carbon was the main cause. Tucker went on to add that the natural Gulf stream of warm water also played a part in the northbound movement of the tropical fish.
